Lightyear's Refer-a-Friend scheme pays you a free stock reward when someone you invite opens their first Lightyear account and funds it with at least €100 within 30 days of clicking your referral link. Your friend gets a reward too.
Both parties receive a fractional share rather than cash, and the reward is usually credited within 10 business days of the friend qualifying. The catch is in the size and the lock-up. Marketing language advertises rewards of "up to €100", but the official terms describe a randomized reward where roughly 85% of payouts land in the €10 to €15 band, with the larger €30 to €100 amounts each carrying single-digit or sub-1% odds, so €10 is the realistic figure most people receive.
On top of that, the reward (or an equivalent account balance if you sell the stock) cannot be withdrawn until 6 months after it is received. Under the terms that apply from 27 August 2026, both you and your friend must also keep net funding (deposits minus withdrawals and outgoing transfers) of at least the qualifying deposit plus the reward value for those 6 months, and Lightyear can revoke a reward that fails this test.
The promo-code welcome bonus and the referral bonus cannot be combined. Eligibility is limited to new customers who have never held a Lightyear account, in the jurisdictions where Lightyear chooses to offer the scheme (the terms set the qualifying deposit at 100 EUR or 35,000 HUF; the UK runs a separate scheme in pounds).
